Beat the dog days of summer with a dip in the pool! This year’s Too Cool To Drool has a new twist! Bring your dog and family for a day of fun-filled activities.

Small dogs can take a dip in the pool at 11 AM and large dogs at 12 PM.

The whole family will have a blast visiting with various vendors, eating yummy snacks and being mesmerized by doggie themed entertainment!

Strutt With Your Mutt is the largest dog walk in Kansas City and Wayside Waifs' largest fall fundraiser.

In honor of Strutt’s 20th Anniversary, some big changes have been made this year to get even more people and their pets involved with this great event!

These exciting additions include: Strutt With Your Mutt 5K Fun Run, 1st Annual Cat Walk, 1 Mile Kids Run, Pancake Breakfast, and Dog Pack Fundraising.

In conjunction with the City of Overland Park, this event features a large arts and crafts fair in Santa Fe Commons Park, the annual parade, a farmers market, music, fun for the kids, an outdoor Business Connection Fair (expo), and much more.

Guardian Pet Care & Massage is owned and operated by Jim Fitch. When needed, assistance is provided by Jim’s daughter, Carla, who also resides in Overland Park, Kansas. The Western theme of the company logo and this web site reflect Jim’s love of all things Western and Cowboy.

Jim went into pet sitting and animal massage following a career of 38 years in law enforcement. His background includes many positions with high level responsibilities requiring extreme trustworthiness. He was a Military Policeman with a Secret security clearance in the U.S. Army. In civilian life, Jim worked on the Federal level as a National Park Service Supervisory Law Enforcement Ranger and on the local level as a Police Officer. In his police career, Jim has achieved specialty positions in the Tactical Response Team, Aviation Unit, Scuba Dive Team, Criminal Investigation Division and his favorite, as a Canine Handler.

Jim is 59 years old and keeps active by hiking, running and swimming. He enjoys backpacking and camping. Jim is the guardian of two German Shepherd Dogs, two Maine Coon cats and many fish. He also enjoys feeding and watching the wildlife that visit his yard. Jim's love of animals started at a very young age and has continued through his life.

 

 


Red Cross Pet First Aid Certified logo

Jim was certified as a Canine Massage Therapist and an Equine Sports Massage Therapist through hands-on training programs at Brandenburg Massage Therapy in Martins Ferry, Ohio. While a Canine Handler, Jim completed several courses in canine and animal first aid and CPR. He is also certified by the American Red Cross in Pet First Aid and CPR. Jim is highly interested in continuing his training and education to work with animals. He is currently studying Acupressure and Reiki for dogs and cats. Jim is also a Notary Public for the State of Kansas and is available to come to you for notary services.

 

Jim is a member of several professional organizations, including the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, Pet Sitters International, Association of Professional United Pet Sitters, Pet Sitters Associates, the International Association of Animal Massage & Bodywork and the Association of Canine Water Therapy. He is also a member and supporter of the Humane Society, ASPCA, Defenders of Wildlife and several local pet rescue groups.
